TUNNGLE BETA OUT NOW. Similar to hamachi for lan gaming over the internet and seeing games in lan menu.
At the moment most of the app is in german but has some english with hopefully a full english update coming soon.
Google it for more info but very much recommended for multiplayer gaming.

ONLINE ACTION

Beta testing games is very good to do,  especially if you want to test a game out before it is officially released.

Sometimes companies will release beta's to the public to test for bugs and performance on different computer setups.

Games companies normally let friends and family of workers test games out in alpha and beta build stage.

Beta's can be rpg's,  fps's,  simulations,  etc... Feedback from the testing can be used to change the games for the better. 

Sometimes and alpha build can be better than a finished build of some games,  not to mention any names....

Over the years i have officially tested various games like far cry multiplayer what i remember being fun and exciting at the time.  the beta of this ran really well too.  Many a late night sniping from the hills in some major firefights.

Another favourite was everquest 2 beta for sony six months before it's release.  This was stunning graphically when it came out.  The detail and engine was second to none. This is a pay to play rpg.  That was a few years back but still looks good now.

Others i have beta tested have been crysis, world in conflict and saga of ryzom.

UPDATE 02/2010

Now in the process of testing MORTAL ONLINE and ALIENS VS PREDATOR beta's.

I will give a review of both games when they are officially in the shops.

Lately been testing Need for speed world beta and maybe for me, the best looking need for speed ever. Look out for info at..http://world.needforspeed.com/
