NEWS 2010
july 18th
Apple just finished off its press conference dedicated on the iPhone 4 reception issues leaving us quite puzzled, to say the least. At one point Steve Jobs was saying that every phone has a weak spot, then he claimed everybody makes mistakes but Apple is quick to fix theirs so that's why they have loyal users. Apple wants its users happy and since everyone cries for free cases, they will give away free cases. But not because they've messed up, but only because "they loves their users".

How about that? Apparently the problem with the iPhone 4 antenna had been blown way out of proportion by the "bad press". The iPhone 4 reputation obviously has been ruined by its incorrect signal representation (now fixed in today's 4.0.1 update) and the easily accessible weak spot.

"There is no perfect phone." - says Apple's CEO, Steve Jobs. This may very well be true, but we never heard of another phone dropping calls when held in the most natural of ways.

Steve Jobs also mentioned the other big issue with the iPhone 4 – its faulty proximity sensor. He promises they are already working on a fix for that and it will be coming with a future software update. Not much of a consolation really, as proximity sensor problems, unlike antenna issues have been troubling even people in areas with great coverage.

Steve Jobs confirmed they're right on track with the next wave of iPhone availability scheduled for the 30 July. 17 more countries will get the iPhone 4 then. Plus the white iPhone 4 is expected to ship in the end of July too

April 2010

We are in a age where some mobile phones are very powerful with lots of features and powerful cpu's and even gpu's.[ CPU = CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT ], [ GPU = GRAPHICS PROCESSING UNIT ].
Some have very powerful camera's for photo and video, 8mp+.
Basically these days a phone is a portable computer with hardware for internet[ wi-fi, 3G, etc ].
Some new models out this year are amazing with 1000 mhz cpu's and 3D gpu's.
You do have to be careful not to buy a cheaply made touchscreen as some of these can have only 150 mhz cpu's and bad software support. One of the best supported phones for software is the iphone with an amazing collection of top notch games with a lot of companies making games for it. The iphone is one of the biggest selling phones with a massive amount of apps.  But until the iphone 2 comes out the camera on it is now left behind in the dust, yes 3MP is good for a phone camera but not a patch on these new phones and some what have been out a year with 8mp, 12mp camera's on, some with HD video recordability. Also another negative is how you can only run one thing at a time on the iphone, whereas other makes and models with different operating systems to apple's can run quite a few programs at once. Hopefully apple will change this in a future release, we shall see.
It will be interesting to see the successor to the iphone and what specification it has, i imagine it will have a least a 8mp camera on it and be HD possibly.
The is also windows mobile platform on some mobiles what can be solid and fast, symbian s60 is another decent operating system, has been known to be sluggish in older variants but these days the s60 5th generation system is pretty cool, the little problem this has is the apps for it are few and far between compared with apples iphone, but sony are meant to have a plan in action to bring big game titles to some of it's newest phones.  Also some s60 phones can install the ngage app to play ngage games directly on your phone, just depends on what make and model you have as support isn't on all phones but they are updating support regulary for new models.
Another new operating system is the ANDROID platform being used on a few new phones what is in it's early life but the future is bright for it with support coming from different companies for games etc.
Really it depends what you want from your phone,  some people are happy with just a basic calling phone.  But before you spend lots of cash look into reviews of what mobile you are after to see if you like what you read and hear.

Here are some of the best touch screen phones around.   Some of the newer models have amazing features and power! Ones what have been out for a while you can pick up at bargain prices!

At the moment i am using a sleek powerful Vivaz!
I am impressed with this, it has some nice power with a gpu.  I have put quake 3 on it, run it high detail, with AA, can also play multiplayer through wi-fi or 10 mbps 3G, with say 3 bots and this runs very good and looks extreme for a phone!

If there is a phone here you might be buying make sure it has what you want,  whether good cpu, gpu added, lots of memory, bluetooth 3.0, operating system you like, good camera etc.

The only main drawback with the vivaz is it hasn't got xenon flash just a light,   but still daytime photo's are well detailed with 8mp.

JUNE 2010

I have tried out my friends N900, i do admit, i like the maemo operating system on it, quite cool!
It is early in life with this operating system, but worth keeping an eye on.

GOOGLE NEXUS ONE SMARTPHONE

The Nexus One will be available worldwide, with an unlocked model priced at $529.
It comes loaded with other hardware and software synergies, such as a GPS unit, a compass and Google Maps, a 5-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi and tons of Google software. Another feature worth noting is noise cancellation, a first for any Android platform.
The so-called "super phone" is a combination of Google's Android and a new platform from HTC, intended to show off the features of Google's OS. With a fast ARM-based processor, 3.7" AMOLED touchscreen, a half gig of memory and 3D graphics, the phone is no lightweight when it comes to hardware, despite weighing less than the iPhone 3G.
